Disclosure
To break the abuse you are experiencing
YOU MUST DISCLOSE IT.
It may feel over-whelming, it may seem easier to deny that abuse is happening to you, it may seem easier to try to “brush it off” hoping the abusive behaviour might change…until it happens again. You may be scared of retaliation, or not being believed. You may be afraid if you disclose the abuse it will affect your career and job prospects. It may seem easier to simply leave your job with a good reference and move on.
You have the right to choose this option.
BUT REMEMBER YOU ARE PROTECTED
You are protected by New Zealand law and international law.
Workplace sexual harassment is a crime and is a serious offence.
